Such a nice place! Bigger than we expected but we didn't mind. We enjoyed seeing all the different planes and things the museum offered. The kids loved being able to actually walk through some of the planes. Loved the picnic area outside as well. The grounds are kept up nicely and it is beautiful there.
Absolutely love our visit! Way more than you can do in just one day. I feel it is more geared towards adults but kids of all ages have something they can enjoy. They offer carts for your kids (two) to ride while you push. Make sure you have comfortable shoes as there is a lot of walking to do. For individuals with mobility problems, they also offer motorized carts. The pictures are but a very small taste.
This is an amazing place packed full of rare and significant aircraft from the US Air Force’s history.
They have expanded over the years, with a new annex dedicated to experimental and presidential aircraft.
Admission is free, the facility is clean, quiet, well-staffed and well-kept! The kicker? Admission is free!
Make this visit, you will not be sorry!
Much larger than I expected and full of so many wonderful pieces of aviation history! There are sometimes docents who give terrific insights into certain planes on display. They’re grouped by era and it’s easy to find your way around and see what you want to see. Definitely recommend allowing at least 3-4 hours. Likely more. It’s big.
Such an amazing experience for young and old. Free parking and free admission make this an affordable family outing. So many amazing exhibits. I should wait until I'm more than halfway through to post this because I could add so many more pictures. This is a must see!
What should I say
This looks like the best and most impressive museum I’ve visited in my life.
If you are close to this place, I would definitely recommend to spend some time in it
But it is that huge, that you should calculate at least a 4 hours stay inside.
Wear good shoes ????
No entrance and no parking fee
I hadn't been here since I was a kid! I came here for the eclipse to see totality on 4/8/24; the event was extremely well organized. While the museum was very busy, the only claustrophobic moments were entering the building and using the bathroom closest to the entrance.
If you are anywhere in the Cincinnati-Dayton-Columbus area and you can take a day, visit this place. If you're an engineer in the aerospace industry, military, or just a huge fan of planes, this place will be heaven for you. Every important aircraft development in the history of the United States (and beyond) is included here.
The place is huge and packed full of details; bring your best walking shoes and pace yourself. If you don't have an entire day, get a map and find your favorites, then focus on seeing those. We spent about 3-4 hours split up by the eclipse and still could have spent another couple of hours in the place.
I left with a mix of feelings; it's a different experience when you're an adult. It has a way of getting your patriotism flowing; it is amazing what we can do when we put our minds to it. On the flip side of that, it is also frightening what we're capable of when we decide to do something; the missile gallery is a sobering reminder of this.
Such a fantastic museum. I grew up in this area and returned for a short weekend visit with my son - many great updates and so much history! Numerous hangars featuring different periods of history, it’s easy to spend a full afternoon here. It’s free to visit and well worth checking out if you’re in town.
